Wow everyone, my apologies! I was under the impression that my saved posts were auto posting for me but apparently they weren't! I'm sorry that I'm now terribly behind! I will try my best to get these next few posts cranked out ASAP!
Anywho.. Our First International Trip! Our friends Arsalan and Nicole flew to Paris to meet up with us and we just had the best time. It was nice to socialize out and about after being on lockdown for the past two years. It really takes it toll.
Our first night we took an Uber to the Eifel Tower. It was foggy and smoggy in Paris but it made for a beautiful sight of the monument. It took me off guard a bit with just how tall (about 1000 feet) it actually is! After dark, every hour, the tower turns it up a notch and sparkles with glittering crisp white lights that you can see from all over the city, it's unbelievably beautiful and an incredible sight to see. We saw the Arc De Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, Petit Palais and many, many other sights.
We walked the Champs-Élysées, window shopping iconic designer stores such as Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga and Fendi while bathed in the twinkling Christmas lights lining the streets, and ate some amazing food.

The one big thing we wanted to do while in Paris was see the Louvre museum. When I say this place is big, it's BIG. The Louvre is the second largest museum in the world, built within the Louvre Palace. It's 800,000 square feet (or like 8 average sized Walmart's for you Americans), spread over multiple floors and has well over 600,000 items in it's collection including the iconic Mona Lisa. Not only is the art collection spectacular, but the building itself is its own work of art. I'll admit, my knowledge of the Louvre prior to this trip was limited to The Davinci Code, so I was pretty blown away getting to see it in person!
Paris was an exciting chaotic city. There was a vaccine mandate protest marching by the Louvre while we were having lunch outside on a balcony and peddlers offered us wine and cigarettes in the park under the Eifel Tower. Also, we couldn't find a liquor store near our flat to save our lives.
Word of advice: spend a few extra dollars a night and stay near the attractions otherwise you're going to have a bad time. We stayed in Asnières-sur-Seine, which is just outside the city and 5 miles from the Eifel Tower. Can you believe it was an almost 2 hour walk to the Eifel Tower? Can you believe it was an almost 50 minute Uber?
Paris traffic is the most insane, wild, chaotic, dangerous and confusing thing I've ever seen. The Arc De Triomphe roundabout is like 7 lanes of cars deep, there are no street lines, and people just drive in any direction they please without any care for other drivers. I thought NYC traffic was bad, I've never seen anything like this. When we were heading to the Louvre, our Uber got hit by a vehicle trying to merge into traffic and he just kept going, no one cared, like it was totally normal. Insanity.
Do you remember this commercial? It originally aired in US and UK in the late '80s / early '90. This fuzzy monster, Muzzy, taught kids foreign languages. There's a litte girl in it and she says, "Je suis la Jeune fille!" and it always made me laugh.
Next stop on our journey is a 2 week tour through Italy which I'll try and get out as soon as I'm able! Check out all our great photos from Paris below!
